Alice in Wonderland Themed Afternoon Tea

It is no secret that we adore Afternoon Tea here at Boringdon. With care, time and passion the team create indulgently wonderful Afternoon Teas, from the signature three tiers, to our ever-popular Special Edition masterpieces.

A quintessential English tradition, Afternoon Tea began in 1840, 200 years after Boringdon Hall came to be, when Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, would become hungry in the afternoons. It was usual for people to eat only two main meals a day, breakfast and dinner at around 8’o clock in the evening. With dinner being a little later, the solution for the Duchess was a pot a tea and a light snack of bread and butter, taken privately in her boudoir during the afternoon. Afternoon Tea has since moved on from bread and butter and now features all manner of decadent sweet treats.

Over the years, Boringdon have proudly presented a variety of themed afternoon delights for all ages to enjoy, no matter what the occasion. Our popular Special Edition Afternoon Tea returns to Boringdon Hall with our Alice in Wonderland theme.
